The first weekend in May my friends and I did a mini shop hop in N Texas - we visited 4 stores in the area - 3 new to most of us 2 new to all of us. We started out at 9am and headed to Quilt Mercantile in Celeste TX - they don't have a web-site so here is a google link to their location. This great shop is located approximately 50 miles NE of the Dallas Metroplex and is definitely worth the drive. The shop had a good selection of fabrics and other quilty things. The prices were great - lower than suggested retail.
A tradition we started several 'HOPS' ago is a picture of the hoppies in front of each store visited - here we are - Pam (me), Marilyn, Diane, Raquel, Karen F and Karen M
The second stop was Quilters Quest in Princeton - another nice little shop to our delight they were having a mother's day sale a week early and everything in the store was 20% off. No website here either but another google map for location and directions.
The 3rd shop - we visited was 'Quilting is Happiness' in McKinney Texas and it was great too- we especially love the patchwork frogs they had out front - which have mysteriously disappeared since our visit. Alot of the businesses on the square in old downtown McKinney had their various interpretations of frogs in front of their businesses - which I took pictures of an will post later when time allows.
We were disappointed that The Pantry was closed by the time we got there so no pie for us that day and we had to settle for afternoon desert elsewhere.
Our last stop was the Quilt Asylum - also in McKinney - another great shop and look at us so sexy in our funny pose after a day of quilt shop hoppin'.

Looks like such fun. I love the name "Quilt Asylum".
Our group did a road trip to the Quilt Mercantile once. What a great shop. I also can't wait to check out Alice's new shop Quilting is Happiness. Now that the Stitching Post in Denton has closed we go to Quilt Asylum quite a bit. I love their fabrics!!
I was sorta bummed to hear that Quiltmakers is closing. I make it there only about once a year, but it was probably my favorite shop.
